Camping… The way it used to be

A campfire with burning logs surrounded by rocks, with trees in the background.

Chippewa Landing offers a camping experience that’s getting harder and harder to find. For generations, families, friends, Scout troops, church groups, and school groups have made memories here on the Manistee River. We host many families and groups that return year after year. Some for more than 30 years.

Our campsites are large, private, and secluded, giving your group plenty of space to spread out, relax, and enjoy the outdoors. Whether you’re planning a quiet family weekend or a large group trip, our rustic campground is designed for people who want to unplug, sit around the campfire, and experience Northern Michigan the old-fashioned way.

❋ Secluded Sites

Tucked among the trees with plenty of room to spread out, our campsites offer the privacy and quiet that make weekends at Chippewa special.

❋ Large and Roomy

Church groups, scout troops, schools, big families, bachelor parties, fraternities, or just large families we specialize in large groups. Many of our sites are accommodating for groups of 50-100+ people.

❋ Riverside

Several campsites sit directly on the river with private docks and waterfront views, while all remaining sites are just a short walk from the river and the public beach area.

❋ Rustic

Chippewa Landing is old-school Northern Michigan camping. Large campsites, campfires, river days, and simple outdoor living without the crowds or resort atmosphere. We are a completely rustic campground.

  • "Awesome place to camp and float on the river! Staff is very friendly and accommodating to your needs. We have been floating with them for 4 years now and everyone always looks forward to it. Already booked for next year! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»"

  • "Accidentally discovered this slice of heaven last year and decided to make it our yearly vacation spot. This year we rented tubes and had them drop us off and float the 3 hours down to the landing. We also took several of the trails in the camp that are wonderfully maintained. Beautiful. Professional. Just a great place to go for peaceful rustic camping."
